Shawn has been on vacation this week so starting last Sunday I have been running on my own. I have to admit I was nervous at first thinking I may just bag it without having someone to meet. I am proud to say I have run the roads last Sunday to today. I have mostly been running in the neighborhood trying to get used to the pounding the pavement can cause. I have been running an hour a day. I haven’t done a track workout this week but I think that is ok to take off a week from them.
I recently had a birthday. Running has me feeling young and old at the same time. I feel better than I have in a long time but just wish the rest of my body would tell my ankles and knees the good news. My ankles and knees make me feel old. Having done a lot more trail this spring and summer I forgot what it was like to run consistently on pavement. There is definitely not as much forgiveness on this surface. The good news is that my coaches/bosses (Cody and Lori Hill-www.brccoloradosprings.com ) think I am ahead of the game and look more fit than I have in a long time. Now they either really think this or don’t have the heart to tell me that I am getting old and I just think the training is working for me. I am going to go with the former. I know I have lost weight so that is always a good thing. This pic is of me the birthday turtle. Matt
